Dobrogea Plateau

Romania is a major European wine producing country which lies on the same latitude as France, but its climate is different in the sense that it has a continental climate.

Located in southeastern Romania between the Danube and the Black Sea, in the center of the Dobrogea Plateau, vineyards from the Dobrogea region are blessed with a unique microclimate that tempers excessive heat and frost and produces growing conditions similar to Bordeaux and other well-known wine regions around the world.

Historical documents mentioning vineyards from the Dobrogea region are more than 2,000 years old, including written testimonies from Ovid (Publius Ovidius Naso), the famous Latin poet, on wine growing in this region.

Oenological potential of the vineyards from the Dobrogea region is highlighted by grape varieties grown which are exposed to large amounts of sunlight, low precipitation regime and soils favorable for vine cultivation.

Companies producing wines from the region earn each year dozens of medals at the most prestigious international wine competitions.
